Under the supervision of the NVH Manager, the Acoustics Database Intern will work for approximately 20 hours a week and will create an excel database that will be used to access, organize and display acoustical test data (no special commercial database software available).

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the management of volumes of excel data from previous and future acoustical testing
  • Organize existing acoustic data records in a searchable way
  • Regularly reports progress to NVH team
  • Development of a database user manual and related documentation
  • Training of team members in using the database
  • Incorporate special requests from users to enhance database once completed
  • Maintain /debug database once completed
  • Support the NVH team during peak times with testing of acoustical material

Proficiencies & Skills:

  • Above average academic achievement expected (prefer a Junior of Sophomore)
  • Comprehensive computer skills (engineering student preferred, or computer/data scientist student)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office software, with a strong understanding of data analysis, data manipulation techniques and data displaying
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Visual Basic (preferred), C++, C#, Java, or similar programming language
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to participate within a team as well as acting autonomously as appropriate
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to plan and think ahead

Schedule & Work Location:

  • 20 hours per week around intern’s schedule during the academic year (hours are flexible)
